UNESCO inscribed Lut Desert on the World Heritage List during their 40th session in Istanbul. The mysterious beauty and universally unique characteristics of Lut make this desert a valuable legacy for the entire world.

LUT DESERT 4 C

Lut Desert or Dasht-e Lut, a salt desert in Kerman and Sistan and Baluchestan province on east and south east of Iran, is the world’s 26th largest desert with an area of 52000 square kilometer.

In 2005 NASA reported the highest temperature 70 °C (159 °F), for a location on Earth was read in Lut Desert. The extreme temperature has resulted in no life of any kind in most parts of this region.

LUT DESERT 2 C

One of the phenomena in Lut is its Kaluts. These tall strange looking sand formations that are shaped by centuries of water and soil erosion create spectacular scenery in desert giving a real sense of isolation.
