Saeed Hashemzadeh the head of the medical tourism department says medical tourists from India, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan have come to Iran for medical treatment.
Hashemzadeh added that so far one hundred hospitals have acquired the license for admission of medical tourists while many more hospitals have applied for the license.
He said most of the authorized hospitals are located in Tehran, Qom, Mashad, Ahwaz, Shiraz, Tabriz, Semnan, Urmya, and Laar.
According to Hashemzadeh last year some 70 thousand foreign patients came to Iran for medical treatment while the number must be considerably higher in the current year.
Iran is also known for its high quality clinical services and professional surgeons in dental implants. Despite this high quality of services, the cost for the patients is quite reasonable. Many Iranians living in European countries prefer to do their dental implants in Iran; saying the overall cost, including the air tickets and accommodation is less than the cost of the same surgeory in those countries.
The International Implant Committee (IIM) which has 16,000 members, chose Iran to head the international scientific group for 2016.
